About Your Session

Engagement Portraits

Following are some helpful tips to ensure you have a great experience with your photo shoot. If you have any questions beyond these, feel free to shoot me a message here!

How to prepare?

Make sure you don’t wait until the last minute! This is a super important time in your life!

• Do some searches on Pinterest for inspiration
• Send me photos via FB, Pinterest or text so that we can nail down the look of your session
• Let me know what some of your favorite locations are
• Get plenty of rest the night before
• Try on your outfits to ensure they fit correctly

What to wear?

You want your outfits to make you feel and look like yourself!

• If you’re most comfortable in flats and sneakers, implement them into your outfits!
• Don’t feel like you and your future spouse absolutely need to match! Look for colors that compliment each other, or are in the same family.
• Make sure your outfits don’t clash when it comes to style! If she’s in a gorgrous gown, he should be in something equally as nice! The same goes for t-shirts and jeans.
• Consider your location when picking your outfits as well.

“Say No” to the  following!

• Bright white doesn’t photograph well
• Shirts with logos or big pictures or prints
• Wild patterns distract from you
• Make sure outfits are free of wrinkles, stains, and rips/holes

What to bring?

• Your outfits on hangers to prevent wrinkles
• Extra hair supplies (just in case!)
• Water bottle
• Mirror for last minute glances/touchups
• A bag to carry your extra items

The little details!

• Make sure you both have fresh/clean nails!
• It’d be best not to try any new hairstyles the day before or day of your shoot. It’s suggested to give a new haircut at least a week before the photoshoot.
• Guys, make sure you’re shaved up, or bearded and ready to go!

What props to bring?

Small props that won’t distract from the pictures are ideal!

• Save The Date board, rings (of course!), or other small items if you want them incorporated.
• Let me know if there are any other props that you would like to have in your photos!

I hope these tips have been helpful for you! If you haven’t already, reach out to schedule an appointment!
